I'm delighted to be launching my fern window film on the last day of March as it was my big project for the first quarter of 2022 and I do love it when a plan comes together.
I have so many favourite photos.
It's been fun living with the samples at home during the sunny spell we have had.
There have been so many surprise shadows and golden hours to catch.
Willow has been a great 'helper'.
I did have to tempt her over with some larch cones (They are irresistible to a Willow. We actually call them Willow cones).
She always makes everything look super cosy.
I began this project by collecting ferns from the woods and pathways and pressing them a little before drawing them on my graphics tablet.
Then, just for the fun of it, I cut out each shape on the lasercutter and stuck them on the window to get a feel for how they would look as a window film.
I engraved tiny spores. I love those kinds of details.
Then I chose my favourites and worked digitally to create a window film design.
Most of the ferns are found locally to me but I couldn't resist including a maidenhair fern because they are a favourite. I love the tiny spores on the edge of their leaves.
The window film comes in three print options. This one (shown above and below) is the 'white on frost'. This will give you the most privacy. This one doesn't make the shadows.
This one (shown above and below) is the 'frost on clear'. This one creates the magical shadows.
This one (shown above and below) is the 'clear on frost'. It creates the magical shadows but as the background is frosted it gives a little more privacy.
You can order the film from the Window Film Company via my website. You put in your measurements and their website will calculate a price straight away. They will cut it to size for you and send it with full fitting instructions and a squeegee.
I hope you will enjoy chasing shadows too x

Just discovered your website and ordered the sunflower for Ukraine. It is such a beautiful idea to help. Also love the magical fern window film.
We all need beautiful stimulation in these difficult times.
Thank you.
